Spot the Kitty is on the Move: Today’s Kitties Spotted in Sri Lanka

This Eid holiday, Spot the Kitty took a kitty-spotting trip to Sri Lanka.

Kitty spotting is not easy in Sri Lanka, as there are so many places for a kitty to hide in this lushly forested country.

Our first kitty was spotted in the town of Kegalle, home of the Kurulu-Kele Bird Sanctuary. Can you find him in this picture?

The next kitty we spotted was in Pinnawala, home of the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. She actually spotted us before we spotted her, and she joined us for lunch, so I wasn’t able to get a photo of her hiding. Here’s a shot of me holding the sweet little Pinnawala kitty:

Spot the Kitty is On the Move! Today’s Cat Spotted in Ajijic, Mexico!

ajijic, chapala, mexico flowers

Kitty-spotting in Mexico is not easy. There are so many wonderful places for a kitty to hide! Today we were fortunate enough to spot a lovely kitty in the town of Ajijic. Ajijic is a small, colourful community on the edge of Lake Chapala, just south of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.

Cat is “gato” in Spanish, and kitty is “gatito.”

Spot the Kitty Takes a Walk on the Wild Side

Spot the Kitty fans Penny and Kelly Borrowman of Calgary, Alberta, Canada did some wild kitty spotting in early September.

The Borrowmans have not decided whether to call their visitor Bobcat Stanfield or Bobcat Marley. Which do you think is the better name for this sweet wild kitty?

Here’s a close up of Bobcat Stanfield relaxing in the lovely back garden.

Don’t you just want to go out and cuddle this guy? Bobcats are not dangerous, but they’re not cuddly pets, either. This area of the city is very close to a provincial park where deer, ospreys, and other wild animals live. The Borrowmans did the right thing by just taking pictures and otherwise leaving their guest alone to enjoy their garden. Hopefully he had such a nice visit that he’ll be back again shortly!

Spot the Kitty is on the Move: Today’s Kitty Cats Spotted in Siem Reap, Cambodia!

We didn’t spot many kitties in Siem Reap. We were too busy exploring Angkor Wat, the Eighth Wonder of the World, which was strangely devoid of kitties. But we were lucky to spot this kitty at our hostel, the Amigo Villa Hostel.

This little kitty was very friendly and not hard to spot at all!

Then this kitty introduced us to her family:

These adorable kittens couldn't have been more than a couple of weeks old! The hostel proudly kept them where the little mama cat put them, in the cupboard under the reception desk.

She didn't seem big enough to be a mother, but she took good care of her babies.

We are sad to be finishing our exciting trip, but what a great way to end it — meeting these sweet little kittens! Next time you travel to Cambodia, these little guys will be all grown up and ready to play Spot the Kitty with you!

Spot the Kitty is on the Move: Today’s Kitty Cats Spotted in a Vietnamese Fishing Village

On our way to Can Gio Ecological Reserve, aka Monkey Island near Saigon, Vietnam, we stopped at a seafood market. We were supposed to buy and eat seafood, but instead we spotted kitties.

She was a nervous little girl but she popped her head out from behind the sugar canes long enough for me to get a snap of her.

If you read the trip-advisor link attached, it seems that Monkey Island is not everyone’s idea of a good time. I don’t know if it is because it is currently low season, or if they also read the reviews on Trip Advisor, but we felt the place had cleaned up a bit. There was no crocodile fishing and someone had cleaned up the garbage, but the monkeys were still very naughty and cheeky! One tried to make off with my hat! Our tour guide told us to hold on to our hats, and he meant it!

Phnom Penh seems to be a city of kitties. Some of the cats we met were skittish, but most came right up to us for cuddles and scritches. Can you spot the cat in each of the following Phnom Penh locations?

Spot the Kitty is on the Move: Today’s Kitties Spotted on Cat Ba Island, Vietnam!

You would think with a name like Cat Ba, the place would be filled with kitties! But in Cat Ba town itself, we unfortunately did not spot any kitties at all. Still, the town was a lovely place to spend the day, kitties or no kitties.

Next day we took a long jungle trek in Cat Ba Island’s national park, and stopped in Hien Hao village for lunch. I guess everyone in Hien Hao is a proper cat lover, because we spotted kitties at almost every house! Below are some of the highlights of our Hien Hao kitty spotting:
